Who We Are:

The Hospital for Veterinary Surgery is a new, purpose-built surgical center opening in the heart of Greenwich’s West End. Spanning 10,000+ square feet and designed from the ground up, we’re bringing cutting-edge surgical and critical care services to a region that has long needed them. This is our second HVS location, and we're building it with the same focus that made our first a destination for exceptional patient outcomes, supportive and transparent team culture, and forward-thinking medicine.

We’re seeking an experienced Overnight Veterinary Assistant to join our inaugural overnight team. Working Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, you’ll play a central role in caring for a high volume of post-op and hospitalized patients. Our day team performs complex, unique procedures and many of the patients under your supervision will require active, ongoing monitoring and support throughout the night.

You'll be part of a small, tight-knit crew responsible for managing a dynamic inpatient caseload, executing treatment plans, and ensuring every patient remains stable, comfortable, and safe until morning rounds. You’ll work collaboratively with your overnight teammates while also operating with a high level of independence, making real-time decisions and leaning on your clinical judgment when it matters most.

This is a chance to help shape the protocols, culture, and rhythms of a brand-new hospital before we open our doors. You’ll be instrumental in helping us build a team that functions with trust, efficiency, and heart.

What You’ll Do:

● Monitor a range of hospitalized and post-op surgical patients, including those requiring oxygen therapy, fluid support, pain management or blood transfusions

● Monitor patient vitals with precision and consistency

● Respond proactively to patient status changes, communicating with on-call doctors and escalating appropriately

● Maintain detailed overnight nursing documentation and ensure seamless handoffs to the day team

● Contribute to the development of overnight workflows and best practices in a brand-new facility

What We Require:

● 2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant, experience in ICU, ER, or overnight care strongly preferred

● Consistent availability Monday-Wednesday, 7pm to 7am

● Strong technical skills in monitoring, triage, and inpatient care

● Critical Care or ICU experience a plus

● Experience with practice management software, (ezyVet is our in-house platform)

● Adaptability, being able to pivot effortlessly while demonstrating a positive attitude with clients and co-workers

● Comfort working independently within a collaborative overnight team

What Makes This Role Unique:

This is a launch position as we open our 2nd Hospital for Veterinary Surgery location! You will spend your first few weeks training, building rapport, and establishing overnight workflow, protocols and systems before opening a brand new facility. This is a clinically-rich overnight position with a manageable caseload and robust support systems.

What We Offer:

● The salary range for this role is: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

● Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage

● FSA/HSA

● Generous paid time off, up to 120 hours of PTO per year

● 401(k) with a company match

You’ll even have the chance to bring back what you learned and share it with the team. If you're excited about learning, we're here to support it, every step of the way.
