Schedule: 181 days, following the school calendar for students plus two additional days before the start of school. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Salary & Benefits: In accordance with the Easton Non-Certified Staff bargaining unit agreement
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or evidence of having passed the Para-Pro Assessment
- Ability to relate well with young children of varying needs and abilities while always maintaining a calm, reassuring manner
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously at all times with parents, administrators, teachers, and co-workers
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and use sound judgment
- Ability to maintain discretion and a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as necessary
- Good organizational, time-management, verbal and written skills; strong documentation skills and sense of responsibility
- Training in CPR and First Aid a plus
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
Responsibilities:
- Assists and monitors students in the Health Office under the direct supervision of the school nurse
- Takes vital signs of students/staff at time of health office visit
- Uses basic first aid when appropriate
- Completes assigned clerical and record-keeping duties
- Maintains student attendance records
- Maintains inventory of non-instructional materials/supplies utilized by the Health Office
- Assists with wash-up and toilet assistance as needed
- Has knowledge of student emergency plans, ability to recognize an emergency situation and get immediate medical assistance as needed from the school nurse or other health/administrative officials
- Assists within the school in case of urgent need as determined by the principal or his/her designee
- Assists with supervision of students during emergencies and during other non-classroom activities such as assemblies, emergency drills, play periods or field trips when needed
- Other duties as assigned
