Summary: The Teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students, performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District and Board Policies and terms of the teacher contract. The Teacher will also develop and foster relationships with staff, parents, students and the community.

- Teaches district approved curriculum
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material in accordance with district provided curriculum
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Comprehend and impart the content of applicable grade level and subject curriculum
- Communicates with students and parents regularly and clearly in an interactive way outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve and effective learning atmosphere
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports and report cards
- Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the students
- Attends IEP Meetings to plan for students with special needs
- Adhere to all Board and District policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintains consistent, predictable and physical attendance to meet the requirements of the position
The qualifications listed below for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties of the job.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Michigan Elementary Teacher Certificate (K-5 All Subjects, K-8 Self-Contained)
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with grade level teachers and with teachers across grade levels
- Familiarity with course content standards and expectations
- Willingness to learn and understand current educational strategies and curriculum
- Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness
- Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Science Endorsement (DX)
- Experience in K-2 instruction
- Teach developmentally appropriate lessons following assigned curriculum guidelines
- Provide students with a safe and orderly environment for learning
- Ability to incorporate technology into the classroom
- Ability to relate positively and communicate curriculum effectively with students, parents, staff and the community
