About the role:
We are seeking a Regional Cost Planning and Estimating Manager for the QLD/NT business unit, to help drive the conversion of an exciting upcoming pipeline of work for the region.
In this role you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating RBU cost planning staff and operations, driving implementation and guiding the delivery of cost planning procedures and processes to ensure compliance and alignment with organisational objectives. The role ensures the delivery of accurate, timely, and strategic cost advice throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility through to final account. The requirement of an individual who has built relationships with clients, partners, external consultants, subcontractors and can demonstrate natural leadership ability.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Supervising and managing the QLD/NT cost planning team and their activities.
Implementing, monitoring and executing cost planning activities and programs and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of cost planning outcomes.
Coordinating cost planning reviews to record and inform decision making and to ensure ongoing compliance with reporting requirements; reviewing of all business unit Cost Plans and estimates within delegated LOA’s prior to submission.
Maintaining current knowledge of industry cost planning developments and requirements and providing specialised subject matter knowledge.
Understanding local market conditions with regards to applicable rates, subcontractors and competitors, and maintaining genuine relationships with key subcontractors to source reliable market pricing.
Fully accountable for all cost planning and estimating within the Regional Business Unit (RBU) from conversion through to delivery.
Actively engage and provide support Lendlease's the Strategic Business Units (SBU’s) as required.
Undertaking performance reviews and development discussions with team members to actively plan key resource sessions for future leadership.
Ensuring assistance is available for delivery teams with significant Head Contract variations as required; regularly attend Project Reviews to understand the actual costs and receive feedback.
Working closely and reporting directly to the Head of Cost Planning and Estimating to ensure all functional and business requirements are met.
To be successful you will need:
15+ years industry experience, working for a Head Contractor, or in a QS/Consultancy, and managing a team of more junior staff.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related technical discipline, combined with appropriate subject matter knowledge, demonstrable experience with developed people manager skills.
Promote a positive team environment and collaborative approach to problem solving and support other team members to perform to their full potential, be creative and work independently.
Advanced knowledge regarding the technical side of building construction & design intent and design metrics.
Advanced understanding of quantity surveying, estimating and cost planning principles and techniques.
Ability to demonstrate commercial astuteness in decision making.
Advanced understanding of the principles of ‘Cost X’ estimating software.
Proficiency in escalation modelling.
Ability to understand/review PBF cost reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to persuade, facilitate decision making, manage expectations, influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
