Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for varied initiatives related to month end close, fixed assets accounting, transaction review, cash accounting, journal entry preparation and posting, sales and use tax preparation, account reconciliations, and month end reporting and analysis.  The ideal candidate will have fixed assets and contractor experience, excellent excel skills, and a team player attitude.  This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for revenue recognition for variable and fixed priced construction projects. 
    1. Review CAPEX requests for internal control. 
    2. Maintain a CAPEX log as well as CIP schedules.
    3. Create additions, transfers and disposal of assets.
    4. Calculation and posting depreciation.
    5. Determine taxable and nontaxable assets.
  2. Responsible for weekly financial management report preparation, analysis, and commentary which will include the development and maintenance of dashboards and forecast models.  
  3. Responsible for reviewing credit card expenditures for coding, posting and company policy.
  4. Responsible for process development, documentation, and training for 20+ field office personnel at the transactional level.
  5. Responsible for assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and other analysis during closing process.
  6. Responsible for preparation of a variety of journal entries (payroll, accruals, reclasses, etc.)
  7. Prepare ad hoc reporting as assigned.
  8. Assist in the preparation and filing of Sales and Use Tax with different states.
  9. Assist transaction processors with questions and solving problems as they relate to recording operations expenses and fixed asset purchases.
  10. Support special projects by working in cross functional teams to facilitate continuous improvement.
  11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or University; 5+ years related experience.
  2. Fixed Assets Experience highly preferred.
  3. Excellent communication and people skills.
  4. Contractor experience preferred.
  5. Critical thinking and an ability to solve problems on the fly.
  6. Expert skills in Excel a plus.  Experience with large data sets, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and sum if required.
  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL, Business Central and CRM a plus.  Experience supporting an ERP system required.
