Job Summary:

Supports philanthropy executive leadership as they lead the team in reaching its fundraising activity and revenue goals. Manages philanthropy initiatives with a focus on accountability, best practices, and collaboration. Leverages donor and investor intelligence to advance philanthropic impact. Leads the philanthropy services team. Provides education and training across philanthropy teams system-wide. Supports and informs system business strategies. Responsible for system Blackbaud suite of services. Motivates team toward donor and grateful patient engagement. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in fund raising or business administration, or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Seven years' experience in philanthropy operations: Preferred
  • Ten years' fundraising experience: Preferred
  • Five years' leadership experience: Preferred or a certificate in Fundraising Management

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Blackbaud Technology Certification: Required
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE): Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a liaison on behalf of philanthropy executive with site-level philanthropy leaders, shared services finance, market-based finance, marketing and communications, and other strategic business partners across the organization on matters of donor data, managing funds and philanthropy finances, philanthropy communications, prospect management, and portfolio development. Provides strategic and operational direction necessary to develop and achieve or exceed operational and financial performance targets. Guides staff in implementing all philanthropic policies, procedures, and best practices. Ensures measurement and effectiveness of all internal philanthropy processes. Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on philanthropy goals and progress to goals. Builds processes and procedures with a sustainable framework to help staff become more effective and efficient in maintaining a distinct, and service-oriented culture.
  • Oversees all direct staff regarding operational matters, including providing leadership monitoring and training, assigning responsibilities, reviewing work processes, and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Helps connect and integrate people and processes across the organization to ensure a more coherent, effective team. Maintains working knowledge of all market core philanthropy programs: annual giving, major gifts, planned gifts, online giving with integration with merchant services, grateful patient, and events programs as they relate to the functionality of donor data management, philanthropy communications, and philanthropy operations.
  • Develops and provides oversight to the education and training plans, materials, and delivery of donor data management to support proper utilization and optimization of Blackbaud Pro Suite (RE NXT, Healthcare Analytics, Online Express, Fundraiser Performance Manager, and additional service subscriptions). Oversees day-to-day activities to support implementation and ongoing maintenance of donor data. Leads development of donor data management and donor data governance, including data entry standardization plans, donor data security and integrity plans, and roles-based security access management plans to ensure system standards. Optimizes usage of Blackbaud Pro Suite to inform and illustrate strategic decisions to further philanthropic activities. Oversees donor data management analyst team that provide second-tier services and support, including queries, reports, imports/exports, data entry, gift processing, mailing lists, and overall donor record management. Implements data health tools to ensure clean, consistent, and accurate data in support of business intelligence and analytics.
  • Oversees and supports philanthropy communications planning and execution through digital engagement and direct mail strategies. Develops and provides continued support for philanthropy web presence, including online donation forms, and web integrations with third party vendors through Blackbaud WordPress integration. Oversees implementation of philanthropy communications and toolkits in support of direct mail and digital appeals, employee giving campaigns, capital campaigns, donor acquisition strategies, and giving society/giving day toolkits.
  • Facilitates prospect research through various tools, iWave, LexisNexis, and Research Point, supporting portfolio management and prospect development. Supports market-based grateful patient engagement programs through data, analytics, and strategy. Supports the market-based teams with portfolio management and moves management.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
