About the Department
Assists in the development and achievement of goals and objectives of the TRIO Talent Search program and is responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering student support activities for the program.
Position Duties
A. Contributes ideas and efforts toward meeting the goals and objectives of the TRIO Talent Search project by planning, attending, and participating in meetings, events, workshops, and/or other related activities.
B. Coordinates, creates, and conducts workshops/trips on financial literacy, career exploration, college readiness, social/emotional learning, postsecondary admission processes, and soft skill development to program participants.
C. Identifies, plans, and executes educational field trips and enrichment activities that promote student retention and engagement such as workshops and college visits during academic and summer programming.
D. In collaboration with Talent Search staff, develops and executes a strategic recruitment plan to maintain program enrollment of 600 students. Represents the Talent Search program at local junior and high schools, community organizations, service clubs, and public events to build awareness and recruit eligible students.E. Creates, edits, and publishes credible content for informational and tracking purposes on program objectives (e.g., flyers/newsletters in Canva, print magazine pages in FlipHTML). Disseminates program publications to market the program, provide support to project participants and objectives. Monitors and contributes to daily social media/mobile app/website information and posts.
F. Supervises program participants during program trips and events on and off campus, while ensuring appropriate participant behavior and adhering to proper safety protocol; travel to partner schools, community events, and other off-campus grant-related events, individually or with students in college vehicles or private charters.
G. Collects, analyzes, and maintains accurate academic data on program participants, including GPA, standardized test scores, and grade reports, to track progress and outcomes.
H. Establishes and sustains strong relationships with school administrators and personnel by maintaining consistent communication regarding students’ academic performance, progress, and overall well-being.
I. Provide tutoring services to participants, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
A. Bachelor’s degree in related field required, preferably in an academic discipline, education, student personnel, counseling, or related area; Master’s Degree preferred.
B. Three years of experience working with underrepresented student populations preferred.
C. Expertise in Blumen or similar database management platform preferred.
D. Work experience with federal or state grant programs particularly for underserved populations preferred.
E. Candidates with similar cultural and academic backgrounds to target populations preferred.
F. Qualified candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, computer experience with Microsoft Office or comparable software applications. Bilingual preferred.
G. Valid driver’s license required. Completion of criminal history background check required.
