How You’ll Contribute:
As the Assistant Vice President, Investment Accounting, you will have ultimate responsibility for all investment accounting functions across multiple legal entities. You will develop and maintain an investment data warehouse while leading a variety of investment assurance, reporting, and compliance functions. This role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, and Front Office teams to ensure accurate, timely reporting and alignment with company values.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and develop a team of investment accounting professionals, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and succession planning.
Oversee daily trade activity, monthly portfolio earnings, reinsurance computations, IMR/AVR maintenance, and general ledger entries.
Prepare and disseminate STAT and GAAP financial statements, core investment earnings, and other regulatory and management reports.
Maintain and enhance the company’s investment data warehouse.
Provide compliance and regulatory support for new and ongoing investments.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors, state insurance regulators, and IRS agents.
Establish new investment accounting reports and portfolios for special projects.
Stay current on investment industry changes, new accounting pronouncements, and company standards.
What You’ll Bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
- CPA required
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of investment accounting experience, including at least 7 years in the life and/or annuity industry.
At least 5 years of managerial experience.
Proven experience preparing statutory statements (Blue Book).
Working knowledge of investment accounting systems (CAMRA/PAM required; Clearwater preferred).
Strong background in managing multiple complex projects.

Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex information.
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in balancing multiple priorities.
Ability to build positive relationships across departments and external stakeholders.
High accountability and ownership of deliverables.
Demonstrated success in process improvements and technology adoption.
Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word).
Physical Requirements:
Standard office activity: frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Occasional walking, standing, driving, reaching, and bending.
Low physical exertion; infrequent lifting of up to 10 lbs.

Compensation and Pay Philosophy:
The pay range for this role is $83.9738-$115.4642 per hour. This reflects the expected compensation for the position at the time of posting. The final offer will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity, and may be higher or lower than the posted range.
