As the Logistics Facilitator (or Transportation Facilitator) you will lead a team who is responsible for the safe, high-quality, and efficient operation PSC’s logistics program, including shipping, receiving, material movement, inventory control and transportation. In this role, you will work closely with PSCs network of manufacturing sites, partnering to ensure mutual production, site wide and customer needs and goals are achieved daily. You are responsible for providing robust, clear communication, expectations and growth and development opportunities to a team of approximately 25 Logistics Team Members who support a 24-hour Operation.
Role Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with teams to ensure safe operations throughout all shifts
- Will oversee the accurate and efficient inbound, storage, order staging and outbound workflows, leading to on time delivery to both internal and external customers
- Create a culture of ownership around waste reduction and 5S as well as other Lean Manufacturing practices throughout the Sites warehouse-owned spaces
- Develop and optimize warehouse layout to improve product flow, space utilization, cost efficiency and service levels
- Track and report key performance indicators related to warehouse accuracy, on time delivery and warehouse productivity while helping the team understand if they are winning a shift or require root cause and adjustment as needed
- Oversee and provide insight into transportation operations, including at times, scheduling, routing and dispatching trucks
- Lead, mentor and provide feedback to team, allowing them to meet operational goals
- Foster collaboration across departments, sites and with vendors as needed
- Effectively manage labor scheduling which supports productivity, safety, quality and Team Member well-being
- Build a culture of accountability, ensuring adherence to established standard work, safe ways of working and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate and recommend ways to improve performance and enact other practices to further improve PSC’s lean manufacturing principles.
- Coach and mentor in various ways to positively impact different styles of learners.
- Oversees daily load planning, and scheduling of routes to ensure balance of distribution center workload while providing outstanding Store Service within budget.
- Responsible for user level maintenance of systems that support transportation and logistics activities including warehouse management software as well as transportation management software.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High School Diploma or GED required, undergraduate degree in Logistics, Transportation, or other related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in the packaging industry is preferred
