About the Department
Park Rangers are responsible for the operations and maintenance of Central Winds Park, Trotwood Park, and other City facilities/parks. Park Rangers conduct public tours, ensure the safety of guests, and help keep our parks looking beautiful. Our Rangers love spending time outdoors and don’t mind getting their hands dirty!
We are currently looking for candidates who are able to work primarily weekend and night shifts.
Position Duties
- Patrol park grounds, enforce ordinances, verify permits, monitor hazardous conditions, and report suspicious activity to the appropriate agencies.
- Answer visitor requests, needs and complaints.
- Responsible for cleaning, monitoring, constructing, and maintaining areas throughout the grounds.
- Environmental management, debris cleanup, and aesthetic landscaping.
- Provide the public with information about upcoming events and programs using bulletin boards, signage, and displays.
- Educate visitors on the natural environment, pollution, and resource protection.
- During special events and holidays, help provide traffic control, area maintenance, and open/close the park.
- Ensure that rules are followed by youth sports activities during park hours.
- May provide basic first aid services.
- The primary duties of this position are performed in an outdoor environment and may include exposure to inclement weather and other hazardous conditions.
- This function will also involve the consistent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, walking, and the lifting, pushing, manipulation, and carrying of heavy objects up to 50lbs.
- Regular in-person attendance during City and department business hours, since face-to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employees, outside colleagues, residents, or vendors, and all immediate access to documents or other information located only in the workplace is required.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent certificate
- One (1) year professional experience in a customer service environment
- Ability to work weekend shifts is required. Regular availability to work the night shifts is preferred.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50+ lbs
- Florida State Park Ranger Academy Certification preferred
Other Qualifications
This position is considered "at-risk" for exposure to Hepatitis B during performance of regular duties. An acceptance/declination of vaccination form is required.
