The Maintenance & Compliance Intern will help meet the demands of both maintenance and safety compliance for the Company. The Maintenance and Compliance intern will assist with planned and reactive maintenance tasks, tying those tasks into safety compliance, and related documentation.

  • Assist with the development of a standalone Electrical Maintenance Program, including LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) for the facility.
  • Assist with 5S and inventory control projects. 5S is a systematic method to organize the workplace in order to maintain standardized conditions.
  • Assist with scheduling/coordinating of 3rd party preventative maintenance providers.

Productivity / Job Knowledge 20%

  • Implement action items as they relate to maintenance task findings.
  • Assists with capturing maintenance tasks into standard operating procedures
  • Assists with preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

  • Pursuing a certificate program or AAS degree in Industrial Maintenance, compliance, or a related field.
  • GPA of 2.7 or higher.
  • Basic knowledge of tool usage & introduction to Industrial Maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of safety programs and/or knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstration of the following skills: organization, critical thinking, and teamwork

Frequently required to stand up to 8 hours in an 8-hour shift.  The employee may frequently lift and/or push pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push/pull with assistance up to 100 pounds.  Employee frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, or crawl.  Employee is occasionally required to sit, climb ladders, or ride work platforms to access elevated equipment.  Regularly required to sit and interface with computer systems while maintaining high level of concentration.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration, and occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Employee is required to wear steel toed shoes, gloves, and safety glasses.   The noise level in the plant shop environment is moderately loud. When working in the Paint and Clean areas employee is regularly exposed to hazardous chemicals.  Position involves working indoors and outdoors with some exposure to weather conditions. In addition to standard PPE, welders are required to wear a welding helmet and may be required to wear leather clothing.  Handles hazardous waste according to company policy and participates in annual hazardous waste training.
