Position Summary. This is a universal banking position that provides a high level of service. Based on individual client needs the Relationship Banker offers and provides various banking services, including serving as a teller as needed.  May refer to and/or collaborate with other professionals within the bank to provide additional services including lending, investment and trust. Responds to client inquiries and resolves basic client concerns in a professional and expeditious manner. Ensure compliance with all federal and state banking regulations and established bank policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner, and directs callers to the appropriate area for assistance
  • Based on individual client needs, opens a variety of deposit accounts (checking, savings, money market, IRAs and CDs) as well as provides other services such as sweep accounts, remote deposit, direct deposit, wire transfers, and internet banking 
  • Provides account research and account maintenance 
  • Based on client needs, refers clients to other professionals within the bank to offer investment, trust, and lending services
  • Fosters long-term client relationships by consistently providing an excellent level of service in all client interactions 
  • Maintains contact with existing clients to enhance the client relationship and develop referrals
  • Ensures all teller transactions are accurate and completed in a timely and efficient manner 
  • Prepares all documents for encoding, balancing and processing
  • Handles currency transactions and cash shipments to and from the Federal Reserve or other offices
  • Prepares banking activity reports and banking logs according to bank policy
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management 

Position Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Possesses ability to make decisions with limited supervision
  • Planning and organizational skills - the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans
  • A minimum of two years’ teller experience preferred
  • Prior relationship banker experience a plus
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office:  Outlook, Word and Excel, and capable of learning new systems

There is frequent repetitive motion which requires substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.   This position may occasionally require that a person climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp and/or feel.    

Visual Acuity Requirements. Close visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus, with or without correction, are required to perform activities such as, viewing a computer monitor or written materials and documents; reading; writing; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; close visual inspection.   Some distance vision and color vision may be necessary. 

Environmental Conditions.  A person is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and only exposed to moderate noise; they may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or machinery such as a copier/printer.
