JOB TITLE: Manager of Ground Services

DEPARTMENT: Ground Services 

LOCATION: Headquarters “YIP” 

WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of the OCC

 

Summary:

The primary purpose of this job is to be responsible for all system-wide ground handling operations and management of staff performing associated duties.

 

Essential Functions and responsibilities include:

  • Establish, implement, and maintain all Ground Services Department policies and procedures to ensure that any/all Ground Service Operations are conducted safe and efficient, and in compliance with all applicable Kalitta, government, or other competent authority regulations.
  • Conducts periodic reviews and audits of staffing, facilities, equipment.
  • Develops and maintains budgetary requirements of the Ground Services Department’s department
  • Ensures that all internal personnel and applicable vendors are properly trained in Kalitta policies and procedures. Establish evaluation process to ensure compliance
  • Supervises the production, provision, and distribution of Ground Services training aids, directives, reports, forms, relevant manuals, and other support materials required for any Ground Services Operations
  • Supervises outstation Warehouse Managers, and establishes warehouse vendor service standard requirements. Monitors Warehouse vendor performance and reviews reporting data on cargo break/build times, delayed or missing cargo, and Customs clearance information.
  • Manages ULD control personnel, processes and procedures; including the tracking of all Kalitta and ACL owned ULD’s. 
  • Provides periodic reports and all costs associated with maintaining all Kalitta or ACL owned ULD’s
  • Responsible for performing any Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting.
  • Coordinates with sales, customers, and vendors on the proper preparation of Ground Service Operations Ground documentation.
  • Directly manages work schedules of all Ground Services Center staff.  
  • Responsible for supervising the arrangement of ad-hoc charter services; including   ground handling, catering, fueling, parking, payment, and any other services flight related services
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by senior management

 

Qualifications: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous airline ramp or warehouse experience required
  • Must be available for flexible hours.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check to receive airport and company badging.
  • Excellent verbal and written (e-mail) communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.   
  • Ability to travel as required

 

 

EDUCATION 

High School Diploma or GED required

College Degree Preferred

 

LANGUAGE/MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to fellow employees as well as vendors.  Ability to perform basic math calculations using mental math as well as a calculator.

Language/ Mathematical Skills:

Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English

 

Physical Demands:

Ability to push, pull, and lift 50lbs on a repeated basis.
