Who You Are: 

The Business Director is a client partner, agile and accountable, with 8-14+ years of experience. You command a room, take charge, and are decisive in ambiguous situations or critical moments. You have mastered the art of delivery and diplomacy and are an advisor to your clients and a sounding board for the entire agency team. In this role, the Business Director will manage the day-to-day of their accounts, partnering with creative, strategy, and production leads to successfully run the business. You have a strong relationship with the day-to-day clients and are fiscally responsible for efficiently running their business. The Business Director reports to the Business Lead and brings them in for key internal and client meetings.  

  • You have a broad understanding of client business problems and objectives, not just the projects within the agency.
  • You contribute to the quality and effectiveness of strategy and champion creative excellence.
  • You are a champion of the TBWA business goals, and you are able to connect the dots between culture, content, and context to seek out new growth opportunities.

As you develop in this role the Business Director will master the skills that will prepare you for a Business Lead role – command of the business, command of the room, mastery of debate, and motivation of the army. 

Command of the business 

  • Identify client business needs and solutions
  • Have a strong POV on briefs  
  • Be able to defend strategic points to clients, creative and strategy 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:  

  • Command the room in internal and external meetings
  • Be decisive in ambiguous situations and critical moments 

Mastery of debate: 

  • Be masterful in engaging in healthy debates both internally and externally to ensure you are doing what's right for the business or what's right for the agency 

Motivator of the army: 

  • Keep the team engaged, happy and motivated through the most challenging tasks
  • Change any conversation from negative to positive
  • Be passionate about every project so it trickles through to the entire team 

Fiscal responsibility:  

  • Set the business vision for the account and manage agency operations and finance to deliver those goals
  • Understand what it takes to deliver organic growth and proactively look for opportunities
  • Lead the development of SOWs and staffing plans working closely with finance partners internally and externally 

Location:

Given the nature of client team, we are only considering candidates that currently live in or wish to relocate to New York City.

The annual salary range for this role is $150,000-$190,000 and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic location and experience. Other compensation includes relocation costs, if applicable, and eligibility for a discretionary bonus, subject to terms/conditions of discretionary bonus program.
