Job Title: Operations Intern

Location: Rocky Mount, NC (must be onsite 2-3 days a week; flexible with school schedule)

Job Summary:
 
The Operations Intern will support daily administrative and operational tasks across multiple departments, gaining hands-on experience in logistics coordination, document management, and internal communication. This internship is designed to provide exposure to business operations in a collaborative environment, with mentorship and training provided throughout.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Under supervision and with training, the intern will assist with:

  • Creating shipping labels and coordinating pickups (UPS/FedEx)
  • Ordering and distributing U1A forms from the National Board
  • Assisting in creating item numbers and tagging Job Orders (JO’s)
  • Updating and maintaining the Tank Inventory Smartsheet
  • Providing basic data entry support for ADP/Expensify
  • Booking travel arrangements for field crews
  • Helping manage Corporate Rate records
  • Supporting Licensing Smartsheet updates
  • Requesting Certificates of Insurance (COIs)
  • Assisting with quarterly IFTA tax filings and registrations
  • Supporting DOT reporting and visits
  • Helping with Verizon account management
  • Assisting with Purchasing functions (excluding PO issuance):
    • Receiving backup
    • Order tracking and expediting
    • Material issuance from inventory
  • Supporting general office operations, including:
    • Ordering supplies and managing inventory
    • Scanning, filing, and organizing documents
    • Coordinating meals for events
    • Scheduling fuel deliveries (LP/Diesel)
    • Managing incoming/outgoing mail
    • Arranging service for printers and scanners
    • Maintaining kitchen cleanliness
    • Preparing and sending holiday gifts to customers
  • Performing other duties as assigned and appropriate for an intern

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or a related field.
  • No prior experience required; any exposure to administrative or office tasks is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
