Physical Therapist
Position Summary: This facility provides ambulatory health care to eligible Native American beneficiaries. The incumbent functions as a Physical Therapist by attempts to address the illness, or injuries that limit a person’s abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Patients are referred by NTHS Provider staff and evaluated to develop a treatment plan.
Position responsibilities:
· Assess, plan, organize and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength and decrease patient suffering from disease or injury.
· Provide educational information concerning Physical Therapy, injury prevention, ergonomics and means to promote health.
· Performs initial and on-going assessments of the patient’s condition.
· Establishes, revises, and evaluates a plan of care.
· Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the condition of the patient.
· Communicates with referring physicians/providers regarding the patient’s progress, status, and ongoing recommendations.
· Thoroughly documents all aspects of therapy care, including initial examination, plan of care, treatment, and response to treatment.
· Supervises departmental staff, develops and reviews policies of department.
· Adheres to all requirements and regulations dictated by state licensures.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
· Doctorate Level Degree from a School of Physical Therapy preferred, approved by the Council of Medical Education of the American Association in collaboration with the American Physical Therapy Association.
· Two to five years of experience preferred.
· Knowledge of the Physical Therapist Code of Ethics.
· Knowledge of the therapies modalities to be utilized for patients.
· Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
· Must have and maintain current State License.
· Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
· Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
· Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
· Experience supervising a team.

Physical Therapy Assistant
Position Summary: The primary function of this position is to provide support to the Physical Therapist by assessment and treatment, as directed by the Physical Therapist.
Position responsibilities:
· Instructing, motivating, safeguarding and assisting patients as they practice exercises or functional activities.
· Observing patients during treatments to compile data on their responses and provide results to the physical therapist in person or through progress notes.
· Conferring with physical therapy staff or others to discuss patient information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment.
· Transporting patients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.
· Securing patients into or onto therapy equipment.
· Administering active or passive manual therapeutic massage, in additional to heat, light, sound, or electrical modality treatments, such as ultrasound.
· Communicating with or instructing patients on therapeutic activities or treatment plans.
· Measuring patients’ range of motion, body parts, or vital signs to determine effects of treatments.
· Monitoring operation of equipment and recording use of equipment and administration of treatment.
· Adheres to all requirements and regulations dictated by state licensures.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
· Associates Degree
· Graduate of an APTA accredited school for Physical Therapy Assistants.
· Must have and maintain current State License.
· Two to five years of experience preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Knowledge of clinic procedures for receiving and following through on patient treatment.
· Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
· Ability to time manage, multi-task, be flexible & adaptable.
· Ability to communicate and teach on multiple levels.
