Summary:

The Assistant General Manager will work at the newly renovated Hotel Indigo at The Countrypolitan in downtown Nashville. This boutique hotel blends modern luxury with the charm of Music City and features upgraded rooms, exceptional meeting spaces, and vibrant food and beverage offerings at The Countrypolitan Bar & Kitchen. The AGM manages the functional areas of guest registration, night audits, guest reservations, housekeeping/laundry, and food/beverage operations to guarantee guest and associate satisfaction while maximizing hotel profitability. This role requires a dynamic leader who can oversee all shifts, ensure smooth F&B operations, and foster a culture of excellence.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management:
    • Manages financial components of operations.
    • Assists the General Manager in day-to-day operations of the hotel.
    • Maximizes financial performance and upholds quality standards of F&B and Rooms departments.
    • Maximizes room revenue by anticipating market shifts, developing, and monitoring annual business and marketing plans, and participating in property sales and marketing efforts.
    • Assists with the development of a business plan and a budget that defines operational goals and profitability objectives.
  • Food & Beverage Oversight:
    • Oversees all F&B operations, ensuring seamless integration between the bar and kitchen.
    • Develops and implements promotions and events to drive revenue and guest engagement.
    • Trains and mentors F&B staff to ensure they are knowledgeable and deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Guest Experience:
    • Builds relationships with guests and monitors satisfaction levels.
    • Ensures high standards of service delivery and prompt resolution of guest concerns.
  • Property Management:
    • Understands and applies accounting principles (e.g., accruals, prepaids, balancing daily reports, GL coding, etc.) and ensures these are understood and applied correctly by the property Controller.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Assists with selection, training, counseling, and motivating hourly associates.
    • Leads efforts to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Expense Management:
    • Assists in monitoring the expenses of each departmental budget with the exception of the Sales Department and Maintenance Department.
    • Participates in the development of the hotel expense budget.
  • Compliance & Security:
    • Assists in the maintenance of the key control program that is already in place.
    • Ensures the security needs of the property and guests are met.
    • Ensures effective departmental communication and information systems through logs, department meetings, and hotel meetings


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Prior Opera PMS Front Office Billing and Account Managment experience.
  • Degree required – minimum 2-year degree.
  • F&B Experience in Full Service and Events knowledge
  • Experience in similar leadership role required.
  • Knowledge and experience in F&B operations, including bar and kitchen management.
  • Ensure goals are met for all guest service-related measures.
  • Maintains Market Share: Hotel at natural rank or higher.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within all hotel disciplines, including experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, reach, or lift as is required in this position.
