Objective:  This hybrid role is designed for a detail-oriented and tech-curious professional who will manage core accounting functions—such as accounts payable, reconciliations, and journal entries—while also identifying and implementing process improvements and automation initiatives across the bank. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys solving operational challenges, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

   

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


Accounting/ Finance:

• Serve as subject matter expert for accounts payable.

• Review and process invoices, expense reports, and payments.

• Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure compliance with 1099 and tax reporting.

• Record investment activity, accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset transactions.

• Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts daily and monthly.

• Assist with month-end close and audit preparation.

• Provide backup support for other Finance functions as needed.


Finance Systems & Workflow Optimization:

· Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation across Finance and other departments.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational workflows and recommend practical, scalable solutions.

· Utilize tools such as IBM Cognos, Microsoft Power Automate, Excel macros, and basic coding to streamline processes and reduce manual effort.

· Maintain documentation for financial systems, processes, and internal controls.

· Train departments as needed on process changes and new workflows.


Other Responsibilities:

• Assist in fulfilling Cognos reporting requests throughout the bank. 

• Help prepare and maintain recurring financial and operational reports. 

• Assist in project planning to enhance operational efficiency.

• Assist in other special projects as assigned.

• Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  

QUALIFICATIONS


Education and/or Experience

  • Two- or Four-year college degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
  • 1-3 years related banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Exposure to financial systems or process improvement projects is a plus.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal & customer service skills.
  • Ability to listen, speak clearly and effectively to others. 
  • Respects opinions of others. 

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Jack Henry preferred.
  • Familiarity with IBM Cognos, Microsoft Power Automate, Excel macros, and basic scripting or coding for automation.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
