Responsible for receiving clinical specimens, checking the requisitions and specimens for accuracy, accessioning the specimens, entering the orders into our laboratory information system, distributing worksheets to the medical technologists, and ensuring results are successfully reported to clients as part of our clinical services.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day processes in the Pathology Department/Clinical Laboratory.
- Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of test examinations.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
- Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor, manager or director.
- Ordering and maintaining supplies and consumables inventory
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in the handling of patient specimens from accession to storage.
- Read and follow technical procedures for the Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Assist in the administration of all QA.
- Assist in the inventory management and ordering.
- Sample data collecting or accession if necessary.
- Compliance with all Federal and State regulations.
- Good hand-eye coordination, written and verbal communication.
- Strong computer, scientific and organizational skills, strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of related experience is required.
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
