MBL Technologies is seeking a Systems Security Analyst to support a federal contract. This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Arlington area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award. 


The Systems Security Analyst is responsible for analyzing, integrating, testing, and maintaining systems security across the enterprise. This role ensures that security controls are properly designed, implemented, and monitored to safeguard organizational systems and applications. The analyst assesses risks, develops mitigation strategies, and provides cybersecurity recommendations to leadership, while ensuring compliance with policies, frameworks, and industry standards. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and develop integration, testing, operations, and maintenance of systems security.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and recommendations to strengthen the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
  • Analyze and report on organizational and system security posture trends.
  • Perform vulnerability scans, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assess and monitor cybersecurity in system implementation and testing practices.
  • Conduct security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop risk management plans.
  • Provide recommendations based on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Apply security policies to applications, including Business-to-Business (B2B) interfaces.
  • Ensure systems meet confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authentication requirements.
  • Verify security documentation, access controls, and minimum requirements are in place.
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, CIS CSC).
  • Implement and maintain system security measures, including countermeasures for vulnerabilities.
  • Integrate automated patching/updating processes and develop procedures for manual updates.
  • Assess effectiveness of configuration management, release, and change control processes.
  • Document security operations and maintenance activities.
  • Support disaster recovery, continuity of operations, and contingency planning.
  • Perform cybersecurity testing of applications and systems.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of security controls and recommend improvements.
  • Plan and execute fail-over and disaster recovery testing.
  • Mitigate or recommend acceptance of security deficiencies identified during certification and testing.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 4–6 years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a cybersecurity-related field (or equivalent certifications/experience).
  • Ability to assess security controls against frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS CSC).
  • Skilled in designing and evaluating system security controls and architectures.
  • Proficient in vulnerability and compliance scanning.
  • Ability to write code in supported programming languages (e.g., Java, C++).
  • Strong skills in access control design, encryption, and network analysis.

Required Abilities:

  • Conduct vulnerability scans and identify risks.
  • Apply cybersecurity and privacy principles across organizational requirements.
  • Evaluate system resilience, reliability, and trustworthiness.

Required Knowledge:

  • Cryptography, encryption algorithms, and key management.
  • Systems security testing and evaluation methods.
  • Risk management processes and operational impact of security lapses.
  • Network design, protocols, and defense-in-depth security architecture.
  • Configuration management and countermeasure design.
  • Incident response and information classification programs.
  • ITIL-based service management concepts.
  • Privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements for critical infrastructure.

  • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP)
  • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
  • GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC)
  • ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • ISC2 Certified Authorization Professional (CAP)
  • ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
