Position Summary:
Caminar is seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Specialist to lead growth initiatives for our private-pay mental health services, with an initial focus on adolescent services. This leader will identify and manage referral networks, develop community and employer partnerships, and build brand visibility to drive client acquisition and service expansion. This is a high-impact role requiring strong relationship-building, business acumen, and a deep understanding of behavioral health within a private-pay context.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategy Development and Execution
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy focused on client acquisition and revenue growth.
- Create and manage a territory plan targeting high-value referral sources in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties and beyond, including pediatricians, primary care providers, schools, school districts, wellness centers, EAPs, concierge medical practices, and family law practices.
- Set and track measurable quarterly goals for lead generation, referral pipelines, and new business growth.
Referral Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with physician groups, pediatric practices, school health leads, parent networks, mental health professionals, HR leaders, and community influencers.
- Represent Caminar at industry events, community resource fairs, school district and Board of Education meetings, conferences, and corporate employee resource and affinity groups.
- Maintain a consistent schedule, balancing new business outreach with existing relationship stewardship.
Employer Engagement
- Develop direct-to-employer partnerships for concierge mental health services and customized wellness offerings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to craft tailored proposals and pricing strategies aligned with client needs.
Marketing and Communications Collaboration
- Partner with the marketing and communications team to ensure alignment between outreach and community awareness strategies and business development goals.
- Provide input on messaging, digital campaigns, and promotional materials to enhance outreach effectiveness.
Data Management and Reporting
- Utilize CRM tools to manage prospects and referral data, ensuring data integrity and timeliness.
- Generate regular reports on pipeline progress, referral conversion rates, and ROI.
- Analyze business trends and market dynamics to inform strategy adjustments and innovation.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of business development, partnership development, or sales experience within behavioral health, healthcare, or wellness sectors.
- Deep knowledge of the San Mateo and Santa Clara County market – understand the competitive landscape—services, pricing, outcomes, and reputation. Understand what drives clients to choose private-pay behavioral health services.
- Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships and driving growth in private-pay or higher-end health services markets.
- Understand evidence-based mental health models and service offerings.
- Respect clinical boundaries and align with ethical standards.
- Communicate effectively with both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
- Proficiency utilizing CRM and data to drive growth.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field.
- Experience securing direct employer contracts or working with high-net-worth clientele.
- Familiarity with digital health solutions and telehealth platforms

Position Requirements:
- Physical: Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs., and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language.
- Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.
- Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments. Occasional exposure to toxins and poisonous substances, dust, and loud noises.
- Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and fax machine.
Essential Requirements:
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
- This position may require limited, occasional, or frequent driving. If required, a valid California driver license, a reliable personal vehicle, and current personal auto insurance is required by law. In addition, an MVR sufficient to obtain and maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are all essential job requirements.
- Must be able to pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.
- If applicable, a personal cell phone with reliable service and a data plan to use for business purposes.
- May be required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
