POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides accounting and payroll support to Safety & Security.  Ensures the efficient and effective functioning of all operational areas of the Safety & Security Department.  Acts as a liaison with internal and external contacts for the District.  This position reports to the Office Supervisor.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains accurate records of payroll transactions for all employees within the Safety & Security Department. Communicates with Safety & Security personnel with confidentiality. Prepares and conducts informational training sessions for Safety & Security employees on payroll procedures and practices as needed.

 

Processes payment for time and attendance, athletics, extracurricular, and invoiced events. Responds to payroll issues from the Safety & Security Department. Ensures cross-training is provided to cover responsibilities effectively when absent. Knowledgeable of payroll accounting software, including but not limited to Kronos and Munis.

 

Coordinates with the Administrative Assistant to ensure new hire information is accurate and complete before the start date. Collaborates with Business Services and Technology as needed to address payroll-related matters. Reviews time entries daily to ensure proper coding. Prepares the payroll report and payroll change forms for each pay period, ensuring accuracy before submitting them for processing. Coordinates with Safety & Security Supervisors in reference to time and attendance.

 

Types letters, memos, reports, etc. Organizes and maintains files and records efficiently.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED certificate required.  Associate’s degree preferred.

 

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in General payroll, accounting and/or bookkeeping training required. Experience in a K-12 public school environment preferred.

 

Collaborate with Office Supervisor in decisions that affect Safety & Security payroll processes.

 

Independent judgment is necessary.  Decisions made on an as-needed basis to establish operation of the office.

 

Requires regular contact with internal personnel within department.  Verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.

Creates, recommends, implements, and applies technology (spreadsheets, word processing, and database management) concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Department.

 

Normal office setting.

 

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.  Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.

 

NOTE: This is a grade 22, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a step 4.
