About the role 
 

 

Join the Risk Management, Strategy & Products (Multi-Unit) team as a Bilingual Senior Specialist, Strategy, Product and Risk Management. Your skills will assist in the development of multi-unit MMLI products and strategies that promote housing affordability and financial markets stability.
 

 

 

What you'll do:
 

 

 

  • Act as the subject matter expert and provide guidance, advice and recommendations to senior management on multi-unit MLI products and strategies.
  • Lead the development of strategies and products that promote housing affordability and financial markets stability.
  • Identify opportunities through market knowledge to strengthen and change strategies and products, frameworks, and structures to achieve set objectives.
  • In co-operation with multiple internal partners, participate in the development of a long-term strategic vision for products.
  • Follow and understand the changing market dynamics, and the governmental policy objectives in respect to the housing market products, and develop and implement solutions relative to the design of new products that respond to those policy objectives.
  • Conduct high-level and broad analysis, and collaborate with team members for deeper insights. Leverage data from the operations group, Finance, and external providers to inform advice and recommendations on changes in approach, strategy, or risk assessment.
  • Liaise, consult and provide technical advice both externally and internally concerning strategies and products. 
  • Conduct research and analysis, and prepare briefing notes, management submissions, executive updates, and correspondence to address requests and concerns effectively.
      

 

 

What you should have:
 

 

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as business, economics, finance.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in mortgage loan insurance, construction financing, lending, real estate, financial markets or credit analysis for Multi-Unit properties. 
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to evaluate risk/reward considerations.
  • An understanding of Canada’s housing finance system, markets, mortgage insurance and funding, the secondary mortgage market, lending/underwriting practices and default management. 
  • Expertise in identifying and analyzing trends, patterns, or connections between issues.       
  • An advanced proficiency in drafting understandable, clear and consistent documents on topics within the areas of responsibility and to explain the content to a variety of audiences.         
  • Effectively build and leverage internal networks within CMHC and manages multiple tasks under pressure to meet tight deadlines and deliverables. 
  • Ability to deliver key concepts and presentations with strong verbal and written communication skills, effectively influencing stakeholders in committee settings and industry events.
     

 

 

It would be great if you also had:
 

 

 

  • Competencies in project planning, management and measurement skills.
  • A CFA, CGA, or a certification in risk management.
