We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior RFP Writer & Business Development Specialist to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role combines proposal development with business growth initiatives, ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
As the Senior RFP Writer & Business Development Specialist, you will lead the creation of high-impact proposals and support strategic business development efforts to expand AFL’s market presence and client base.
Key Responsibilities:
Proposal & RFP Management (60%)
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (technical, legal, executive teams) to gather and tailor content.
- Lead the full lifecycle of RFP/RFI/RFQ submissions, ensuring timely and compelling responses.
- Maintain and enhance proposal assets including templates, case studies, CVs, and credential libraries.
- Ensure compliance with submission requirements and drive continuous improvement in proposal quality.
- Analyze win/loss outcomes to refine future strategies and improve success rates.
Business Development & Growth Strategy (40%)
- Identify and assess new business opportunities through market research and networking.
- Monitor procurement portals and industry trends to support pipeline development.
- Partner with leadership to shape strategies for market expansion and client acquisition.
- Cultivate relationships with prospects, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Develop pitch decks, presentations, and other business development materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven success in producing winning proposals in B2B or B2G environments.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in proposal writing, business development, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of RFP processes, bid strategy, and compliance standards.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and formatting skills.
- Strong project and time management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and proposal management tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Canadian public procurement practices.
Experience in industries such as professional services, design engineering, legal, civil construction, electrical transmission, telecommunications, or installation/repair.
- Graphic design or layout skills (e.g., InDesign, Canva) are an asset.
- APMP certification or relevant training is a plus.
