The Position 

The City of Maple Grove's Ice Arena Maintenance employees are responsible for the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment including the Zamboni, ice edger's, HVAC equipment, and other general equipment. This position works independently under the general supervision of the Arena Maintenance Supervisor.

Position Duties

• Performs general maintenance and cleaning of the ice arena, grounds, and facility.
• Works cooperatively with other building staff to ensure maximum facility use to avoid loss from unscheduled useable space.
• Works independently and efficiently to avoid interruptions for ice time.
• Operates ice resurfacing machine (Zamboni) and other ice related equipment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of applicable work hazards and safety precautions.
• Performs general maintenance of resurfacing machine and other ice related equipment. 
• Monitors all refrigeration equipment and recordkeeping. 
• Assists in monitoring HVAC equipment and other related equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs using power and hand tools.
• Attend training and other staff meetings.
• Enforce arena safety rules and regulations.
• May supervise other part-time seasonal arena positions. 
• Responsible for security and emergency procedures including closing/openings of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Need to have:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License. 

Nice to have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment necessary to operate an ice arena including, but no limited to, refrigeration equipment, Zamboni, ice edger's, HVAC equipment, plumbing, air conditioning, and operating characteristics of assigned equipment.
• Experience resurfacing ice arena's and driving machinery.
• Knowledge of CPR and basic First Aid training.
