Job Summary
The Electro-Mechanic Technician will be a key member of our maintenance team, responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all process-side equipment within the brewery. This role focuses on the journey of beer from raw materials to final product. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both mechanical and electrical systems, with a keen eye for troubleshooting and a commitment to safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Malt Handling & Brewhouse Operations: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all equipment related to grain handling, including railcar unloading, conveying systems, mills, and all brewhouse vessels and machinery.
- Wort & Fermentation Management: Maintain and troubleshoot wort cooling systems and all equipment within the fermentation cellar, including yeast propagation systems, fermenters, and bright tanks
- Filtration & Separation: Expertly maintain and troubleshoot various filtration and separation technologies, including centrifuges (GEA), Reverse Osmosis (RO) and nano-filtration systems, and Pall cross-flow filters
- Pumps, Valves, and Heat Exchangers: Perform maintenance, rebuilds, and troubleshooting on all types of process pumps (e.g., SPX, Durco, Wilden, Bredel), valves (e.g., Valtek control valves, solenoids, Tuchenhagen matrix valves, Keystone double actuated butterfly valves), and heat exchangers (both plate & frame such as APV/SPX/Alfa Laval and shell & tube)
- Fabrication & Welding: Execute sanitary welding and fabrication tasks, including TIG welding of stainless steel. This includes working with all types of shop equipment and performing bench work for component repair
- Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot and perform basic electrical wiring tasks. This includes working with motor controls, instrumentation, and sensor systems. Adherence to NFPA 70E standards is mandatory
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow all company safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and complete all required documentation
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Experience as an electro-mechanic technician in a food, beverage, or similar process manufacturing environment; brewery experience is highly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of rotating equipment, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Proficiency in troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals
- Experience with sanitary welding and fabrication of stainless steel
- Knowledge of various types of pumps and valves used in sanitary process systems
- Familiarity with industrial controls and instrumentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all safety regulations, including LOTO and NFPA 70E
