🔍 About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Die Technician to join our team and support our precision metal stamping operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of progressive stamping dies, ensuring all tooling runs safely, efficiently, and to exact specifications. If you have a passion for problem-solving, mechanical precision, and continuous improvement, this role is for you.


🧩 Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform die repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting for progressive stamping dies.

  • Support daily production by ensuring all dies are safe, clean, functional, and meet company standards.

  • Disassemble, inspect, and rework damaged die components and verify operational readiness.

  • Set up and operate tool room equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses) to fabricate or repair components within tight tolerances.

  • Conduct heat treatment of components per specifications.

  • Perform changeovers on multi-use tooling.

  • Record detailed notes and maintenance issues in work orders.

  • Specify components and maintain adequate tooling inventory.

  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings to manufacture or repair dies to specification.

  • Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauge blocks) to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Operate overhead cranes and lift trucks safely.

  • Train and mentor other team members on best practices in machining and repair.

  • Follow all safety procedures and proactively contribute to a safe working environment.


📘 Required Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 5 years experience working with metal stamping dies.

  • Hands-on experience in a precision metal stamping environment, specifically with progressive dies.

  • Expertise in die maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong knowledge of tooling materials and their characteristics.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents.

  • Precision machining with tolerances as tight as one-thousandths of an inch.

  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Working knowledge of die construction, stamping operations, and tool steels.

  • Experience with preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Ability to act with integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times.
