Using collaborative nursing practices, the Staff Nurse (SN) is responsible for overseeing the effective clinical management of the care team and for providing safe, competent, and ethical care to Residents. The SN works cooperatively and collaboratively with families and all other internal and external customers. The SN provides leadership to the care team through building relationships and trust, creating an empowering work environment, supporting the integration of knowledge and by leading and sustaining change. The SN utilizes nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills to provide clinical supervision to the care team, manages staff assignments to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Healthcare Aides (HCAs); and determines when to assign and supervise the performance of Restricted Activities. Performs other duties as required/assigned.


Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Gerontological Nursing or other relevant specialty would be an asset. Current certification in First Aide and/or CPR may be required depending on the position assignment. Current registration with CRNA or CRPNA is required.
