MBL Technologies is seeking a skilled Technical Writer/Editor to support a federal contract. This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Arlington area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award. 


The Technical Writer/Editor provides writing, editing, and documentation support for organizational processes, procedures, and technical outputs. This role ensures that all written materials — including reports, policies, security updates, training content, and incident management documentation — are clear, accurate, and compliant with organizational and regulatory requirements. The Technical Writer collaborates with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to translate complex concepts into accessible, user-friendly content. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Compose and edit technical reference materials, proposals, policies, and training documents. 
  • Document and visually depict complex business requirements, processes, and workflows.
  • Analyze and document technology products, applications, and tools to effectively communicate their use and functionality to end-users.
  • Coordinate professional production of written materials, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
  • Facilitate meetings and interviews to gather documentation requirements from stakeholders.
  • Advise teams on documentation standards, system usage, templates, and process design.
  • Maintain an organized archive of technical documents, ensuring easy retrieval and version control.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and cybersecurity-related documentation requirements.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 4-6 years of relevant technical writing and editing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Publishing, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and direct experience in a cyber-related field). Certifications may substitute for academic requirements.
  • Advanced writing, interpersonal, and conceptual communication abilities.
  • Ability to write about complex ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, adaptable to audiences at all levels.
  • Familiarity with evolving technical infrastructures and ability to align documentation accordingly.

Required Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to produce accurate, professional documentation under tight deadlines.

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles (confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
  • Knowledge of information classification programs and procedures for handling compromised information.
  • Understanding of incident, problem, and event management processes.
  • Awareness of the operational and business impacts of cybersecurity lapses.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operations and IT environments.
  •  Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards related to cybersecurity and privacy.
