Salary Range: $65K – $85K (Depending on experience)
Overview
This is an entry-level developmental role, ideal for a recent college graduate who is eager to grow and advance within our organization. The position provides added support to our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience across environmental and safety disciplines.
Candidates should have a strong educational background, a solid understanding of EHS principles, and the flexibility to take on future environmental and safety roles as they become available. Nature and Scope
- Fill in for the Environmental Manager as needed
- Fill in for the Safety Manager as needed
- SDS review and auditing
- Review Near Misses/Hazard Observations to identify trends and develop training
- Assist during MSHA inspections
- Conduct and assist in New Hire Training and other EHS-related training sessions
- Perform plant inspections and employee observations
- Conduct monthly safety and environmental inspections
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of EHS programs
- Support management and supervisors on training, environment, health, and safety issues
- Ensure programs are effective and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance
- Deliver training on environmental health and safety topics
- Partner with departments to foster safe and environmentally compliant working conditions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently and make timely, sound decisions
- Knowledge of environmental science and EHS principles
- Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
- Postsecondary diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Experience in manufacturing preferred
- Experience in training/facilitation preferred
- Familiarity with Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field
- Familiarity with environmental compliance in Air, Water, and Waste permitting
- Project management skills
- Commitment to the highest standards of safe work practices
- Knowledge of NESHAP standards for Portland Cement and Hazardous Waste Combustor industries a plus
- Experience in the Cement Industry a plus
