Job Description:About this job:
This role involves setting strategy, overseeing underwriting, and driving business development to ensure the company's profitability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Business Strategy: Create and implement the strategic vision for the casualty reinsurance portfolio, aligning it with the company’s overall risk appetite and financial goals.
- Manage Underwriting Operations: Mentor a team of underwriters, overseeing the evaluation, pricing, and structuring of complex reinsurance contracts to ensure profitability.
- Cultivate Client and Broker Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and reinsurance brokers to drive new business opportunities and retain existing accounts.
- Monitor Market Trends and Risk: Stay informed about market conditions, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to make proactive decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
- Oversee Financial Performance: Manage the profit and loss (P&L) of the casualty portfolio, reporting on key financial metrics to senior leadership and the board.
Technical Skills/Competencies:
- Deep Underwriting Expertise: Extensive knowledge of various casualty lines, including general liability, professional liability, and workers' compensation.
- Actuarial and Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of actuarial principles, financial modeling, and data analytics to assess risk and structure profitable deals.
- Contract Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate complex reinsurance treaty terms and conditions.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant insurance and reinsurance regulations.
- Portfolio Management: Experience in managing and optimizing a large, diverse book of business to meet profitability targets.

Work Experience:
- A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in reinsurance or insurance is required, with a significant portion of that time focused on casualty underwriting and management. Experience in a leadership role, such as a Vice President or senior underwriter, is essential. Experience managing a full P&L and leading a team is also necessary.
