About the role
The Head of Tennis is a key leadership role responsible for delivering the strategic pillar: Convert and Retain. This role is focused on strengthening the capability and capacity of Tasmania’s delivery network of tennis clubs, coaches and regions to deliver welcoming, sustainable and high-quality opportunities for people to stay in tennis. As thousands of new participants are inspired and introduced to the sport, particularly through schools and events, this role ensures those participants are successfully connected to club environments, coaching programs and meaningful tennis experiences that retain them long term.


The Head of Tennis leads partnerships that enable and support with the club network, regional associations and coaching community, enabling them to deliver participation programs, provide excellent customer journeys, and foster a culture that is welcoming, safe, inclusive and aligned with The Tasmanian Way.


This role will work closely with the Head of Marketing & Events and Coach Relationships and Engagement Manager and to create clear participant journeys from first hit to ongoing engagement, while also supporting development opportunities to grow the future tennis volunteers, workforce and leadership.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant business, sport or related discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
  • Proven leadership experience in participation growth, sport development or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing community clubs, regional associations and coaches.
  • Demonstrated experience building capability within volunteer and professional-led environments.
  • Ability to drive operational delivery, manage budgets, and monitor measurable performance outcomes.
  • Experience managing grants or investment programs and evaluating outcomes.
  • Experience in regional engagement and a commitment to supporting all parts of Tasmania.
  • Positive Working with Vulnerable Persons (Children) check &National Police Certificate (mandatory).
