The Extrusion Die Runner is responsible for assembling, disassembling, cleaning, and maintaining extrusion tooling equipment. This position ensures proper tooling preparation for production runs and maintains equipment in optimal condition through safe handling and storage practices.
Responsibilities
- Assemble extrusion tooling for production runs according to specifications
- Disassemble dies after production completion and transport to caustic cleaning area
- Load and unload tooling into and out of caustic tanks following safety protocols
- Deliver prepared tooling to press areas for production runs
- Transport tooling to proper storage locations after cleaning and inspection
- Maintain caustic tanks in optimal condition to ensure proper die cleaning
- Operate Guyson sandblaster safely and effectively
- Inspect tooling for damage and report issues appropriately
- Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain clean, organized work areas
- Complete daily production records accurately
- Interact professionally with all employees and team members
- Communicate equipment issues and work status effectively
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to push carts loaded up to 700 pounds
- Capable of standing for 10-12 hours per shift
- Good hand-eye coordination and motor skills
- Ability to see and read numbers/letters stamped on tooling
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Basic mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Basic writing skills for documentation completion
- Verbal communication skills for work coordination and problem reporting
Safety Requirements
- Commitment to following all safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to properly use required personal protective equipment
Work Environment
- Primary work area: Die shop in Extrusion department
- Secondary areas: Extrusion press area, caustic tank area, die breakdown/buildup area, die storage area
Conditions
- Concrete flooring with no covering
- Non-air-conditioned environment
- High noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Verbal communication may be challenging due to noise levels
- Required Personal Protective Equipment
- Safety shoes (required at all times)
- Safety glasses (required at all times)
- Hearing protection (required at all times)
- Long pants and long-sleeved shirts (required at all times)
- Face shield and neoprene chemical gloves (intermittent use as needed)
Equipment Used
- Measuring tape and associated hand tools
- Caustic tanks and related cleaning equipment
- Chain hoist for heavy lifting operations
- Guyson sandblaster
- Material handling carts
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision to support department operations and company objectives.
Schedule
- Friday through Sunday: 4:00 AM - 4:00 PM (36 hours per week)
