GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Deliver HIPPY curriculum to parents through home visits, empowering them to be their child’s first teacher and promoting school readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly home visits to distribute HIPPY activity packets and guide parents through instruction.
  • Support development in math, motor, literacy, language, and science domains.
  • Recruit families with children ages 2–5.
  • Maintain community resource connections and make referrals.
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for families.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports.
  • Participate in staff meetings, group meetings, community outreach, and training as required.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with young children and families.
  • Completion of Child Development Associate within one year of employment.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain trusting relationships with families and staff.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various data collections.
  • Must be comfortable with home visits and flexible scheduling.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Experience with diverse populations; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile coverage
  • Satisfactory Driving Record (as outlined in Vehicle Driving Policy)
  • Complete 24 hours of in-service/professional development training hours each fiscal year (July- June)
  • Must have current First Aid and Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Work primarily in family homes
  • Includes time in office for planning, documentation, and training
  • Travel to multiple counties and homes required
  • Accommodation of family availability, which may include evenings or weekends

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Walking & Standing: Regular movement during home visits and community outreach.
  • Driving: Must travel to family homes; reliable transportation required.
  • Manual Tasks: Carrying and distributing curriculum packets, books, and materials.
  • Lifting: Occasionally lift and carry items up to 20 lbs such as boxes of materials or supplies.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for instruction and documentation.
  • Computer Use: Computer sufficient with various data collections that could include Microsoft, REDcap, Box and Outlook.
