Description

 Title: Infant Toddler Specialist

           Program: CCR&R

           Worksite:  TBD

           Reports to:  Supervisor

 

 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Classification: Full-time

 

Position Summary: To provide training technical assistance for child care providers on matters related to infant and toddler aged children.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide professional development and technical assistance for child care providers.
  • Participate in the WV Infant Toddler Specialist Network (WV ITSN) initiatives.
  • Traverse various terrain to access visitation sites.
  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

 

Marginal Functions

  • Participate in practice and observations for ITERS-3 with peer annually.
  • Assist with collaborative visits and training experiences for infant toddler providers with the TRAILS team.
  • Submit requests for materials, supplies, and training resource materials.   
  • Compile and submit reports within established timelines.   
  • Respond to any inquiries within a timely manner.
  • Participate in all required committees, conferences, meetings and training relevant to the program and/or agency.   
  •  Participate in ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement activities.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, developmental psychology or child development.

 

Experience

  • Preferred: Experience with adult learning.
  • Required: One year of professional, paid, and documented work experience with infants and toddlers under the age of 36 months.

 

 

Employment Conditions

  • Successfully clearing the background check process, which may include: criminal background check, education verification, references, drug testing, motor vehicle records, sex offender registry, Child Protective Services check, and federal grants debarred list.  
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to travel extensively; requires the need for flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Adhere to National Association for the Education of Youn Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain STARS career pathway enrollment and STARS trainer credential. 
  • Complete initial online training for Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale-revised (ITERS-R) within first (6) months of employment.
  • Become fully certified in the Program for Infant/Toddler (PITC) with timeline for completion per policy and procedures prior to presenting WVIT- Relationship-Based Care (WVIT II).
  • Complete process for West Virginia Infant/Toddler Mental Health Credential within one (1) year of PITC certification.
  • Business casual apparel.

Environmental Conditions

  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to temperature changes at least fifty percent (50%) of the time.
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk viewing a computer screen and keyboard typing.
  • Frequent face-to-face, electronic, and virtual interactions with internal and external customers. 
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Public contact position.
  • This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week following a successful 90-day review.

Physical Demands

  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
