Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician Team Lead plays a key leadership and operational support role within the Specialty Pharmacy. Reporting to the Pharmacy Technicians Manager, this position assists in overseeing daily workflow across dispensing, drug fulfillment, and packing operations. The Pharmacy Technician Team Lead acts as a mentor to other technicians and supports the manager in staff supervision, training, and the implementation of new processes and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Pharmacy Technicians Manager in coordinating daily operations within the specialty pharmacy.
  • Ensure smooth workflow execution across medication dispensing, drug fulfillment, labeling, packing, and preparation for delivery.
  • Act as a shift lead or point-of-contact for pharmacy technicians to address questions, escalate issues, and resolve real-time workflow challenges.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new pharmacy technicians and support ongoing training initiatives for existing staff.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and quality improvement projects.
  • Monitor adherence to operational protocols and ensure that activities meet safety, accuracy, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide feedback to the manager on technician performance and help maintain a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Serve as a role model in upholding professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency in all aspects of pharmacy operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a specialty pharmacy or high-volume environment.
  • Prior experience training or mentoring pharmacy technicians is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacy fulfillment workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to influence peers positively.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
