Job Posting Title: Supervisor (Residential and Cleaning Services)
Grade and Salary: Grade 5 - £26,707 - £31,236 pro rata
Contract Type: Part Time (14 hours per week/ 0.4FTE), Fixed Term (12 months)
Working Pattern: This position is based on a 2-over-7 working pattern, with afternoon/evening shifts starting at either 2:30pm or 3:00pm. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.

About our School/Directorate and Team
The Campus Services Directorate encompasses the Estates team, Oriam and Hospitality Services.
Hospitality Services consists of Residential and Cleaning Services, the in house retail Catering operations, Events and Conferences and the Accommodation and Front Desk teams.
Hospitality Services and all its teams have a dual focus of supporting the Students and Academic Schools whilst generating income from the use of facilities and its activities.
All the teams are very customer focused and the collective objective is:
- To Deliver high Quality Consistent Services at all times in a Sustainable, Viable and Professional manner to all customers.
- Residential and Cleaning Services is the largest of the teams that make up Hospitality Services and is responsible for cleaning all accommodation whether residential, academic or third party on the Edinburgh Campus.

Purpose of Role
To ensure an effective and efficient operation of cleaning services within the Heriot Watt University Riccarton campus. To participate in the day to day programmes of cleaning work within the allocated cleaning zones of the University to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
To actively contribute to the successful delivery of excellent service to all students, staff and visitors across the university by keeping student accommodation and University offices, meeting rooms and lecture theatres clean and tidy and fit for use.
Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Day to day responsibility for all cleaners, directing, supervising, training and motivating to deliver the cleaning schedule for all the designated areas
- Planning and implementing daily work schedules and staffing levels in keeping with the demands of the business
- Ensure all buildings, residences, offices, classrooms etc served by the team deliver a positive impression and are maintained to meet customer expectations and service level agreements
- Work with the Senior Cleaning Team Leaders and Deputy to forward plan staff and work schedules for all areas to meet the requirements of the business throughout the year
- Be responsible and accountable for quality control inspections, audits of accommodation and follow up where required. Manage stock levels and be accountable for same
Education, Qualifications & Experience

Essential
- Educated to HND level or similar or equivalent experience
- Experience of working within a similar environment as outlined above
- Experience or relevant qualifications in the hospitality industry
- Good numeracy and IT skills
- Competent in the use of relevant IT packages
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable professional and proactive approach
- Demonstrable ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment
- Demonstrable provision of excellent customer service
- Willingness to learn
Desirable
- Experience of leading an operations team
- Experience of supervisory practice and principles
- BICS Trainer Certificate
- Previous experience of working within a similar environment as outlined above
- Experience of operating relevant catering and/or cleaning equipment
