POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the general direction of the Senior Program Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, managing, and supervising developmentally appropriate School-Age Childcare programs at multiple sites. This person will also manage and plan the summer camp program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Plan, implement and supervise a developmentally and academically appropriate curriculum for all assigned department programs including School Age Childcare, and Camp.
  • Assist in the development of the annual operating objectives and plan for the School Age Childcare Department, Camp program. 
  • Assist in the monitoring of the annual budget (income and expenses) for the Department.  Ensure that the department maintains a positive fiscal position.
  • Assist the department to recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate School Age Childcare and Camp staff.  This includes following all policies, procedures and timeframes of the organization.
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate program curriculum for the School Age Childcare program and Camp Program.
  • Ensure the YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed in accordance with the New Jersey Office of Licensing.
  • Provide coverage to childcare sites, as needed, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with applicable school districts and partners.
  • Special projects as requested and needed such as family days.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, free of clutter, debris and hazardous conditions.
  • Familiar with all emergency procedures.
  • Lead in the camp planning of the assigned camp.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants. 
  • Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk. 
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers and require them to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the Y’s disciplinary procedures and respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follow mandated reporting requirements. 
  • Communicates to all employees and volunteers the Y’s commitment to protect our members from abuse.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred BA/BS in Education or a related field.
  • 2-4 years Youth Development experience required.
  • Prior experience working in SACC and camp programs
  • Prior staff supervision and program curriculum experience preferred.
  • Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.
  • Clearance from Criminal Background check.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to build strong kids, families and communities. The ability to articulate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibilities are essential.
  • Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment.
  • A Driver’s License required with the ability to commute to multiple sites daily.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


This work requires the following physical activities:  climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.  The work is performed indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel.   He/she must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday


HOURLY PAY RATE: $20.00 - $22.50
