Our St. Henry Harvesting plant in Mercer County, Ohio, prepares the turkeys for further processing and distribution. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team in St. Henry.
The main objective of this position is efficiently secure necessary supplies and services for the plant, ensuring that they meet quality and timeline requirements by processing purchase orders, that enable us to meet our customers’ requirements, while minimizing costs to the Processing division.
SHIFT HOURS: Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)
Job Functions:
- Generate and send out purchase orders to vendors and align the order details, to the internal needs of the company
- Maintain a profession rapport with vendors and businesses we purchase from, ensuring effective communication, to make sure the ordering process runs smoothly
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs and communicate with suppliers
- Distribute and track all PO forms. Work with Accounts Payable to confirm all orders
- Supervise Dry Storage Clerks and oversee Dry Storage Area
- Maintain accurate inventories on all packaging and dry good items, to make sure that all of our production needs are covered
- Check incoming shipments, to ensure accuracy and that goods meet specifications
- Project and identify ordering patterns of key packaging materials. Maintain projections and outlooks for these items and update on a regular basis
- Work closely with scheduling to project out packaging needs for value add items
- Complete annual training as needed, such as SSOP, GMP, HACCP, Animal Welfare, Food Security, and Allergen
