We are seeking a Competitions Coordinator to join as a key part of ASME’s Global Program team. This position is responsible for the coordination of our digital and in-person competitions portfolio. E-Fest Tech Connect is a flagship digital event comprised of at least three digital competitions and career and professional development sessions for a global student and early-career audience. ASME EFx events are in-person events designed to bring excitement, community, innovation, and vibrant experiences to colleges and universities around the world. An ASME EFx event is planned and executed by local organizers with the support of ASME staff.  ASME EFx events may include up to five official ASME student competitions as well as career and professional development content.    

 

The Competitions Coordinator will serve as the primary contact as it pertains to Programs activities, including, but not limited to the following: 

 

Strategy & Vision

  • In collaboration with the ASME Competition Committee Chairs & the Student Programming Committee Chair, lead the review of, update of, revision(s) of, and publication of ASME student & early career competition rules on a yearly basis. Rules should be published before the end of the US academic year.
  • Oversee and ensure that competition rules emphasize competition safety first and foremost and that they are engaging and provide a creative, unique and positive learning experience for our global student and early-career engineering communities
  • Manage E-Fest/EFx/Competitions website, including regularly updating content, photos, videos, competition rules, and event information

 

Process Improvement/Change Management

  • Drive organizational change by establishing and executing competition deadlines for all EFx and E-Fest Tech Connect events
  • Manage and support all competitions’ inventory and recommend any new inventory based on competition challenge statements
  • Coordinate any required competition certificates and/or trophies for EFx events and/or E-Fest Tech Connect 

 

Metrics & Analysis

  • Track competitions, registrations, and competitors/schools for leaderboard(s) and historical tracking
  • Lead the collection and tracking of all pre-event EFx and E-Fest Tech Connect competition deliverables (i.e., design reports, videos, etc.)
  • Process/coordinate all EFx and E-Fest Tech Connect official ASME competitions prizes for students

 

Cross-Functional Contributions 

  • Main liaison and point of contact with 8+ competition committees, including keeping and updating committee volunteer records, leading regular competition committee calls, and creating, updating, and maintaining committee Operations Guides as needed
  • Main point of contact to the Chair, Student Programming Committee, under which competition committees report up to
  • Main point of contact for potential and confirmed EFx host schools that will include official ASME competitions – this may include coordinating competition shipments, supplies, rules review, and judges training with host schools

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) 
  • 1-3 years of program or events management experience or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English 
  • Strong organizational & project management skills and the capacity to deal with orchestrating a large number of concurrent in-person and virtual competitions
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of global stakeholders
  • Ability to work across a global set of stakeholders and with varying levels of leadership (students, faculty, senior volunteers, ASME staff)
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, AirTable, Softr (or equivalent)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce  
  • Working knowledge of virtual competitions/gaming  
  • Mechanical engineering proficiency/technical knowledge
  • Ability to speak multiple languages / Spanish  
  • Experience working in a non-profit and volunteer-based environment   

 

This role offers the flexibility of a remote work arrangement, with occasional business travel as needed.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $60,000 – 65,000.00 per year.
