Job duties: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive.
- Assists Medical Doctors in providing care to their patients
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical and updating medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Schedules patient appointments and maintains accurate patient records
- Performs standard care procedures like drawing blood, injections, wound care and checking vitals, processing lab works
- Serves and protects HMC by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements
- Demonstrates compassion, empathy and patience when dealing with patients
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, their families, and medical staff to address any concerns or special requirements
- Prepares patients for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
- Selects and set up instruments, equipment and materials needed
- Manages infection control - prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment
- Performs various office tasks as necessary
- Keeps the medical room clean and well-stocked
- Knowledge of Scheduling appointments
- Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate in Spanish and English
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- CPR certification
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role
- Knowledge of patient assessment techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology
- Superior customer service skills
- A high level of professionalism
- Graduated of an approved medical assisting program with expanded duty functions
- Ability to handle patient’s requests, concerns and complaints
- Work well under stressful conditions and treat patients with respect and dignity
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Able to write, read and speak clearly
- Capable to demonstrate empathy
- Capable of managing difficult or emotional customer situations by responding promptly to members needs and requests
- Understanding of patients' rights and responsibilities
- Must exhibit good active listening and comprehension skills

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
- Able to stand, sit or walk as needed
- Able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; and taste or smell
- Able to kneel, crouch or stoop if necessary
- Able to lift up-to 10 pounds, bend, often move objects and assist patients to move
- Work in a well-lighted, clean environment
- Fast Paced environment
- Able to be as quick as the Medical Doctor, anticipating their needs during exams and different procedures to keep procedures running smoothly
