Position Title: General Cashier

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Service

Reports to: Process Coordinator

Receives payment for products or services sold by the dealership and plays a key role in maintaining or creating customer satisfaction for the business transaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets customers at the cashier window in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Opens the safe in the morning-reconciles cash drawer to the 250.00 required. Dates and time stamps that this has been done. Informs supervisor immediately if drawer cannot be reconciled.
  • Pulls daily deposit log – adjusts information from previous day and adds date and information for current day. Takes deposit to accounting first thing in the morning.
  • Takes payment from customers, responsible for requesting signatures from customers on repair orders. Stamps customer copy with type of payment made and initials. If customer has paid by check cashier is required to write check # on customer copy of RO.
  • Stamps accounting copy, file copy, and warranty copy with complete payment information.
  • Log payment in Daily Deposit Log with invoice # and amount.  *If Warranty, type “W” on log
  • Staples the receipt to the Accounting Copy and places in correct tray. Staples File copy to all other copies and files away. Highlights year of car and last 6 digits of VIN with pink highlighter and files accordingly. If Warranty staples Warranty copy on top and give all of the paperwork to Warranty Administrator. Does not close warranty tickets.
  • Sign the customer up for One to One (Get email) or administer rewards and redemptions. Ask Customer to fill out the survey on the iPad. Tell the customer that you have signed them up for their next appointment.
  • Make sure that all RO’s are logged in the correct order and closed (unless Warranty).
  • Responsible for closing out drawer each night and making sure all necessary reports are run for the deposit.  Responsible for following dealership process for close-out which is attached.
  • Refers customers who have questions about the work performed, additional maintenance or repairs, etc. to the service advisor or other appropriate individual.
  • Handles customer complaints with integrity and poise and when necessary refers them to the service manager to help them better resolve the issue.
  • Responsible for following the return process the dealership has in place with manager approvals.
  • Responsible for keeping service manager informed if state inspection stickers need to be ordered.
  • Administers and reconciles petty cash amount. Does not administer petty cash without manager approval. Responsible for filling out petty cash log and having employees initial. Responsible for keeping all receipts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Possible backup for switchboard operator.

 

Requirements:

  • Follows the dress code the company has put in place. Maintains a clean and neat work area.
  • Follows federal, state and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information.
  • Reports on time to work and follows schedule that is given. Calls supervisor if he/she cannot be at work on time.
  • Keeps current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of any illegal activity.
