Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Equipment Operator is responsible for separating, clearing and properly transferring materials as well as the preventive maintenance on the equipment and work areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspect fluids and hoses on loader daily
- Transfer material from the dump floor to the backhoe operator
- Push loads on the MSW side of the building also load trucks out of the load out pit
- Maintain cleanliness both inside and outside of the building
- Ensure belts are on track and in good shape also monitor the quality of material coming off the belts
- Communicate with transfer station manager on construction and MSW loads
- Clean load pit daily
- Ensure tires or appliances pulled are transferred to designated areas
- Spot check to ensure there are no hazardous materials, or non-recyclable items in load
- Assist facility manager with any maintenance as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience with heavy equipment
COMPENTENCIES:

WORK CONDITIONS
Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals.
