Overview
The Homemaker works in partnership with the Household Team and Central Kitchen Team. The Homemaker's responsibilities include performing the combined duties of dining services and housekeeping. As a cook, the Homemaker will prepare food for household meals and snacks that are healthy and appetizing and served in a timely manner, while maintaining high quality standards and portion control using standardized recipes. The Homemaker assists with serving resident/guest meals, snacks and nourishments. The Homemaker plans and facilitates activities for residents/guests and the Household that involve food preparation or other activities specific to the kitchen. This individual performs housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance of household surroundings which may include resident/guest rooms and common areas. As an employee of the Household/Central Kitchen, the Homemaker is considered a versatile worker and is cross-trained in different functions of the Household within scope of licensure (if applicable) in order to meet resident/guest needs as they occur.

What you will do
  • Supports the various activities of the household or central kitchen environment while creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere for residents, guests and family members.
  • Regularly involves resident/guest directions and choices for foods, menus, recipes, presentation and housekeeping.
  • Prepares high quality food in accordance with safety and health regulations, guidelines and standards. Ability to accurately follow menus and recipes and understand diet and nutritional requirements.
  • Assists residents/guests with eating as needed and helps prepare appropriate snacks and meals.
  • Maintains clean spaces in the Household, including guest/resident rooms, Household common spaces, as well as staff spaces and equipment. Adheres to sanitation guidelines and universal precautions for the Household.
  • Ensures that Household participates in continuous Quality Improvement processes that identify questions and issues to be addressed in the Household and that appropriate follow up is taken to assure quality outcomes. Ensures that resident/guest rights and responsibilities are honored and met, including the right to refuse or individualize treatment.
  • Able to complete a typical day's assigned workload within the scheduled shift. During periods of heavy workloads able to assist other team members.
  • Demonstrates responsible, dependable and reliable behavior by being present for work as scheduled. Adheres to attendance policy.
  • Assists with maintenance and inventory of supplies needed for household/central kitchen operations (i.e. grocery items, cleaning supplies etc.).

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, (Preferred)

Experience
  • 1 year Hospitality/Food Services - Cooks/Restaurant or Housekeeping (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Servsafe Certification - National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (Preferred)
