Eligibility and Responsibilities

Ares is currently searching for self-motivated, detail-oriented, astute individuals to join our summer intern program. We seek individuals with intellectual curiosity, a growth mindset, critical thinking skills, initiative, and financial acumen. Below are the criteria we consider:

  • Anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, ideally majoring in field related to Finance, Business Administration, or Economics
  • Have a track record of academic excellence and participation in campus activities
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting is a plus but not required. We are primarily looking for general aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Novice to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to multi-task
  • Initiative and a strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • The ability to research solutions and be a problem solver
  • Looking to complete a 10-week summer internship

Investor Relations

Credit - Opportunistic Credit - Investor Relations (New York, Los Angeles)

Real Estate - Investor Relations (New York)

Ares is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join its Investor Relations & Product Management team, supporting specialists across Credit and Real Estate. The role involves assisting with investor communications, preparing presentations, and conducting market and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions. Interns will contribute to fundraising efforts, support new business development initiatives, and manage transactional data for third-party providers. They will collaborate closely with internal teams, including portfolio management, legal, compliance, and marketing—to ensure seamless information flow and strong cross-functional relationships. Additionally, the intern will help streamline data processes and maintain consistency across all investor-facing materials.

Portfolio Management

Credit - Portfolio Management (New York)

Real Estate - Portfolio Management (Denver)

Ares is seeking interns to join its Portfolio Management department within both the Real Estate and Credit Direct Lending groups, offering hands-on exposure to the daily responsibilities of a Portfolio Management professional. Interns will evaluate pipeline investments, conduct portfolio analysis and reporting, and perform ad hoc research for limited partners, while also engaging in special analytics projects and quarterly valuations. They will apply proprietary software tools to monitor portfolio company performance and gain a deeper understanding of the leveraged loan market. Each intern will complete a capstone project, developed in collaboration with their manager and presented to the broader investment team. Throughout the program, interns will interact with key functions across the firm—including deal origination, corporate debt underwriting, investor relations, accounting, finance, performance, and restructuring, building a comprehensive view of Ares’ investment operations.

Global Client Solutions

Investor Operations & Services (New York, Los Angeles)

Ares’ Investor Operations and Services team is seeking interns to support strategic initiatives around fundraising and client experience. Interns will provide project management support and collaborate with Relationship and Product Management teams to streamline processes across departments like Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Investments. They will conduct fund-level analyses to generate actionable insights and contribute to key projects by drafting presentations and supporting leadership requests. The role also emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, encouraging interns to build strong networks across the firm. This internship offers a dynamic opportunity to deepen industry knowledge while developing essential skills for long-term success.

Relationship Management (New York)

Ares is seeking an intern to support the Americas Relationship Management team in marketing the firm’s investment strategies to institutional investors. The role involves managing Salesforce data, preparing customized materials for fundraising roadshows and meetings, and tracking investor activity and preferences. Interns will conduct market and competitor research to identify key prospects and assist with performance reporting through weekly summaries and campaign trackers. They will help organize team workflows by ensuring timely completion of deliverables and maintaining records of client interactions and meetings. Additional responsibilities include preparing regional meeting materials, distributing notes, and contributing to ad hoc projects across the team.

Strategic Partnerships (New York)

Ares Management is seeking a detail-oriented and driven intern to join its Strategic Partnership team in New York, supporting client service and internal operations. The role includes developing marketing and reporting materials, managing CRM systems to track investor interactions, and maintaining the Intralinks portal for document delivery. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional teams—such as Investor Relations, Legal, and Accounting—and assist in preparing customized client materials, meeting agendas, and briefing memos. They will also contribute to portfolio, risk, and cash-flow model analysis, and produce reports for strategic partners and the broader solutions business. This position offers exposure to new technologies and provides a dynamic environment for learning and professional growth.

Secondaries

Credit (New York)

The Ares Secondaries Group formalized its Credit Secondaries strategy in 2023, seeking to capitalize on the growth of the market and Ares’ leadership across the credit and secondaries asset classes. Our strategy is focused on constructing diversified portfolios of secondary credit interests, focusing on first lien debt with top performing managers. Our dedicated team represents a combination of our credit and secondaries capabilities, leveraging extensive industry experience and a cycle-tested investment approach that enable us to identify attractive risk-adjusted opportunities.
