About the Position
- Medical Staff Recruiter and Credentialing Assistant
- Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- Days, no weekends!
- Hybrid work schedule: Remote and onsite at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital

Job Summary:
The Medical Staff Recruiter and Credentialing Assistant is responsible for medical staff (physician and APP) recruitment and assisting with the medical staff credentialing & privileging process for the entire medical staff. They identify, develop and implement strategies for recruiting providers. Facilitate the sourcing and placement of providers across the facility. This position is also a resource to help with the coordination of medical service committees and on-going medical education. Assures that all credentialing and privileging efforts are in compliance with licensing and regulatory agencies. This position requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
- Develop and implement strategies to identify candidates to meet the organization's provider staffing needs.
- Respond to practice and candidate inquiries and serve as a resource for day-to-day recruiting activities.
- Serve as a day-to-day resource and expert to recruitment team members in the area of provider education and discipline background, training components, and skill requirements.
- Consult with resources within Fairview system and externally to appropriately evaluate provider qualifications for matches to practice opportunities.
- Assist in the development of market research to use as a foundation for sourcing strategies and promotional materials.
- Develop and maintain relationships with training programs and professional associations.
- Create and maintain a list of short and long-range recruiting priorities.
- Coordinate the activities of the Grand Itasca physician recruiting committee. Keep the recruitment committee informed of progress and prospects.
- Coordinate physician interview schedules and information gathering trips. Organize the participation of key stakeholders in the site visit/interview process.
- Determine which firms to use based on effectiveness. Operate within a set budget for use of outside firms.
- Work with locums' providers and agencies as needed.
- Collaborate with supervisor and leadership team to manage the offers of employment and related terms of employment.
- Maintain and revise employment agreements.
- Research, develop and document processes related to immigration for candidates who require work authorizations through sponsorship by Fairview, utilizing legal counsel as appropriate.
- Functions as the credentialing assistant for Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital and responsible for the processing of provider applications according to medical staff policies and procedures, bylaws and JC standards.
- Assists with maintenance and accuracy of provider information in the credentialing database, and maintenance of the practitioner privilege book.
- Assist with confidential research required for credentialing of new & re-appointees applying to the medical or allied health staff; coordinates completion of the credentialing process; collates and assesses information gathered for the initial and re-appointee evaluation for privileges and membership.
- Assist in processing of applications for medical staff appointment to include verification of all pertinent information in compliance with acceptable standards for processing application in compliance with the medical staff bylaws, Minnesota state law and the JC standards.
- Assists with all requests for temporary privileges in accordance with the medical staff bylaws and JC standards.
- Serve as a point of contact for all visiting specialists and providers that provide services at Grand Itasca on an outreach basis.
- Assist with coordinating credentialing and privileging responsibilities.
- Completes special assignments as requested by the medical staff leadership or administration.
- Assist with responding to external inquiries regarding practitioner appointments and past appointments.
- Assist with initial set-up and reappointments for providers with third-party payers and professional liability carriers. Help Business Office resolve problems with denials for payments with credentialing discrepancies
- Assist with in-house CME activities.
- Assist with the Grand Itasca sponsored CME activities in compliance with the MMA, ACCME, and AAFP. This includes helping to coordinate the schedule and speakers, maintain attendance records and files for each activity.
- Help to coordinate the on-site survey for accreditation with the MMA.
- Help to maintain current and accruable bylaws, rules and regulations and fair hearing plan.
- Serve as a contact person for physician outreach, coordinating internships, educational and mentoring opportunities that include medical staff; work with Fairview to help coordinate medical students.
If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations or a business field preferred.
- Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management as well as members of other organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 1-year recruitment experience or 3-5 years professional level experience working with physicians required, 5+ years' experience in recruitment preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Exceptional communication skills, including business writing and research, and the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple, rapidly changing priorities effectively and able to build consensus across multiple decision makers in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca policies, vision, mission and values.
- Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
