Shaping the Future of Monetisation at Trainline 👋

We’re hiring a visionary Product Director to lead our New Verticals & Ads business – one of our top strategic bets for the next three years. This is a unique opportunity to define and scale products that go beyond rail, creating new revenue streams and integrated experiences that deliver real value for our customers. You’ll own the roadmap for value-added services such as hotels, car hire, insurance and attractions, while also shaping our rapidly growing advertising proposition – all in a true greenfield leadership role with full executive sponsorship.

You’ll work at the intersection of product strategy, platform thinking, and commercial growth, leading a high-performing team of 5x Product Managers as well as cross-functional organisation of 60+. If you thrive on building from zero-to-one, scaling ideas with impact, and redefining the travel ecosystem, this role gives you the platform to make your mark at European scale.

As a Product Director, you will be… 🚀

  • Setting the vision & strategy for New Verticals & Ads for Product & Tech, aligning with Trainline’s long-term growth and monetisation goals.

  • Building and scaling a portfolio of travel-adjacent products (such as mobility, insurance, attractions) that integrate seamlessly into our customers’ journeys.

  • Helping craft our ads platform proposition – from placements and targeting to measurement and monetisation – leveraging our unique first-party data and high-intent audience.

  • Driving experimentation and learning, using research, market signals and rapid iteration to test, validate and scale.

  • Partnering cross-functionally with Commercial, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Legal and Data Science to deliver customer-centric, compliant experiences.

  • Leading and inspiring a growing product team, setting high standards for accountability, creativity and delivery across a 65+ person organisation.

  • Being the voice of New Verticals & Ads at senior levels, influencing decision-making, securing investment and shaping our monetisation strategy.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneurial product leader who excels at building new ventures, uniting diverse teams, and bringing bold ideas to life. If you’re energised by the challenge of unlocking fresh revenue streams, shaping propositions from the ground up, and steering complex initiatives through to impact, this role gives you the platform to truly stand out. You’ll play a key role in scaling a business that’s transforming the way people travel – inspiring millions of people across the UK and Europe to choose smarter, more sustainable journeys every day.

The Skills & Spark to Drive the Journey Ahead ✨

We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. You’ll bring a proven track record of building and scaling monetisation products from zero-to-one and have the influence to align complex stakeholders behind bold ideas.

We’d love to hear from you if you have… 🔍

  • 10+ years in product leadership, including senior roles with revenue or monetisation responsibility.

  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in ads, marketplaces, travel, or digital commerce.

  • Track record of scaling new products – from MVP to maturity – balancing customer value with revenue impact.

  • Deep understanding of ads ecosystems - contextual advertising, data privacy, build vs. buy decisions.

  • Proven cross-functional leadership, comfortable partnering with commercial teams, engineers, and senior stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinker with a bias for action, adept at cutting through ambiguity and driving outcomes at pace.

  • Outstanding communication and influence skills, capable of winning hearts and minds at all levels, from teams to the Board.
