The City of Steamboat Springs is pleased to announce a job opening in our Parks & Recreation Department as a Snowmaker!
Seasonal employment with day time, nighttime, and weekend work available.Seasonal employees who stay until the end of the snowmaking season will receive a $1.50/hour end of season bonus.
Employees who want to stay on after the snowmaking season and transfer into a Howelsen Hill mountain operations job and remain employed are eligible for option 1:
$1.50/hour end of season bonus based on total hours worked OR option 2: Employees working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for a Steamboat Resort Merchant Pass paid for by the City of Steamboat Springs in lieu of option 1 (employee's choice).
All employees of Howelsen Hill will be eligible to participate in the Real Deal, allowing employees to ski at most ski areas in CO.
Position Duties
Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while espousing safety at all times.
As a snowmaker at Howelsen Hill Ski Area, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality snow surfaces to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests.
This role involves the setup, operation and maintenance of snowmaking equipment in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate snowmaking systems safely and efficiently
- Monitor weather and conditions to optimize snow production
- Set up, move and maintain snowmaking equipment including guns, hoses and tools
- Complete daily logs and reports of snow production and conditions
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
