Position Summary:

Utilizes strategic planning in collaboration with Production Facility leaders and Broadline Sales Directors to achieve Specialty Company sales goals through Broadline Distribution. Works collaboratively with the cross functional Divisional Directors in order to help facilitate initiatives specific to the support Specialty Company Customers needs. Develops and monitors key performance indicators and the professional development of team members. Aids in communication of commitment and execution of plant deliverables to sales and GFS leadership. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assumes U.S accountability for SC sales through the consistent application of practices and procedures through the development, management and evaluation of process improvement programs of SC sales and those areas that influence the customer base. 

  • Monitors changing customer landscape and industry trends to ensure departmental alignment with customer needs and requirements.

  • Serves as liaison between cross functional areas and cross divisional including Commercial Sales Team, GPOs and Marketing to coordinate resources needed to achieve the sales plan and support the SC Sales Team’s success.

  • Analyzes key performance indicators and statistical data to establish goals/objectives and formulate standard practices.

  • Utilizes Gordon Food Service vision and philosophy to develop and implement division commercial  sales strategies.

  • Participates in Home Office initiated projects, division senior level planning meetings and manages communication flow.

  • Creates an environment that stimulates an interest in research, creates opportunities and an expectation for data collection and integrates findings into operational and strategic planning. Encourages staff to become involved in committees, projects, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Interviews, hires, trains, and retains business development sales staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.

  • Aids in communication of commitment and execution of plant deliverables to sales, and GFS leadership. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to represent the department, speak at minor functions, and resolve problems.

  • Must have good time management, administration, collaboration and organizational skills to understand and assist in developing relationships between sales, transportation and the customer.

  • Must be able to develop, refine, communicate, and implement regional sales plans

  • Must have industry and segment knowledge and be able to analyze and interpret data.

  • Must have good time management, administration, and organizational skills.

  • Must be a strategic thinker in order to build relationships, network, and link resources to plan and execute business practices and achieve business goals.

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

  • Desktop or Laptop computer 

  • Networked printer/copier/facsimile machine

  • Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer)

  • Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Sites, Groups)

Typical experience includes a Bachelor's degree plus seven or more years of previous sales or business experience with two years previous leadership experience or ten years of experience without a degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
