Clocktower Group is an alternative asset management and advisory firm based in Santa Monica, California, with a presence in London and Shanghai. Our top-down macro framework and relationship-based investing approach inform our strategies and drive the way we do business. In public markets, we seed macro-oriented managers and manage an Asian equity platform. In private markets, we invest in early stage fintech and climate disrupters. We also provide global macro research and advisory services.

Clocktower Ventures
Clocktower Ventures, the venture investing arm within Clocktower Group, partners with phenomenal entrepreneurs who have the vision and drive to innovate across two domains: financial services and climate change. Across these verticals, our stage-agnostic approach offers investment exposure from the earliest stages of company formation all the way to late-stage growth underwriting. The model empowers investors to source and evaluate actionable opportunities across a wide latitude of sectors and stages.

We are seeking a force-of-nature Chief of Staff to support the Partner who leads our venture investing arm. This is not a passive coordinator role; it’s for someone who is outrageously organized, relentless about keeping people and projects on track, and able to “bend reality” to make things happen.

The ideal candidate combines a love of structure and follow-through with an insatiable curiosity about venture capital, startups, and investing. You’ll thrive if you can toggle between the details (schedules, systems, deadlines) and the big picture (strategic initiatives, portfolio growth, firmwide priorities). Above all, you’ll act as a force multiplier for the Partner and team, ensuring our VC platform runs at the highest possible level.

What you’ll do:
  • Strategic Partner. Work closely with the Partner and VC team to design and execute key initiatives that advance the firm’s venture strategy. Provide leverage by tracking priorities, surfacing insights, and ensuring alignment across the business.
  • Project & Information Management. Coordinate internal and external deliverables, keep projects on track, identify bottlenecks, and develop systems to streamline operations. Maintain clear communication so the Partner is fully informed and empowered to make decisions.
  • Client & Investor Engagement. Support investor relations and portfolio servicing by helping with onboarding, communications, and meeting prep. Ensure we provide best-in-class service to LPs, entrepreneurs, and external partners.
  • Materials & Meeting Prep. Draft, edit, and polish materials including investment memos, pitch decks, marketing documents, and various updates. Collect and synthesize information for use in meetings with clients, investors, and portfolio companies.
  • Firmwide Collaboration. Partner with colleagues across investment, fundraising/marketing, and operations to ensure seamless coordination and execution. Step in to assist on broader firm initiatives as needed.

Requirements:
  • Proven track record of execution. You get things done — on time, at a high standard, and without letting details slip. People trust you to deliver.
  • Organizational ability. You thrive on structure, systems, and efficiency. You can manage multiple priorities and keep others on track.
  • Intellectual curiosity. You are eager to dive into venture capital, startups, and investing, and you’re motivated to learn the “why” behind the work.
  • Stellar background in relevant work. Experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, fundraising, marketing, or another field where precision, communication, and client engagement are key.
  • Excellent communicator. Comfortable drafting, editing, and presenting high-stakes documents and materials.
  • Relationship builder. Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in connecting with people — colleagues, clients, and partners.
  • Tech fluent. Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; expertise in CRM platforms is a huge plus.
  • Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; what matters most is your ability to demonstrate excellence in the skills above.
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, training, education, and scope of the role. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and carried interest.
